Application

Applications for membership in The Institution of Fire Engineers may be obtained by emailing membership@ife-usa.org or by downloading from this website below. Applications will be considered by the Branch Membership Committee, endorsed if necessary, and then forwarded to the Membership Section of the IFE for final review and consideration. Candidates meeting the qualifications will be notified of their election by the Branch Membership Chair and will then receive an invoice for the annual subscription. Please read the IFE Rules of Membership before proceeding.  

Use this application only if you do not have a CPSE designation, or are an IAAI Certified Fire Investigator, and  least have a undergraduate degree (i.e. Bachelors degree) or higher from an accredited institution of Higher Education.

Note: That along with this application you must also submit an Initial Professional Development (IPD) Report, and a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Report of continuing education for the period of two years immediately prior to submission of your IFE membership application. The required IPD and CPD report document format and guidance may be requested from Membership@IFE-USA.org.

For applicants that do not have at least a Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution of Higher Education, please contact Membership@IFE-USA.org for specific information and assistance in completing the appropriate membership application.

Member Application Form

The US Branch has a reciprocal agreement with the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE) to award membership to current designees holding certificates for Chief Fire Officer (CFO), Fire Marshal (FM), Chief Emergency Medical Services Officer (CEMSO), and Chief Training Officer (CTO). A shortened application form is provided for this purpose.

CPSE DESIGNEE MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION

The US Branch has a reciprocal agreement with the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE) to award membership to current designees holding certificates for Fire Officer (FO). A shortened Graduate membership application form is provided for this purpose.

CPSE FO DESIGNEE GRADUATE APPLICATION

The US Branch has a reciprocal agreement with the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) to award membership to current designees holding Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) Certification. A shortened Member application form is provided for this purpose.

IAAI CERTIFIED FIRE INVESTIGATOR APPLICATION

Student membership is available to any part-time or full-time student currently enrolled in a degree program in fire science, fire engineering, or related field. For more information on student membership benefits see attached document "Student Membership".
